Biography

Hello, I’m Shun!

I am currently a PhD student and pre-doctoral fellow (FPI) at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. I am very fortunate to be part of the Research Group of Control, Data, and Artificial Intelligence (CoDAlab) and to be advised by Prof. Francesc Pozo and Prof. Yolanda Vidal. My PhD research focuses on AI strategies for predictive maintenance and early damage detection, Structural Health Monitoring and Condition Monitoring for wind turbines. From February to June 2026, I was a visiting researcher at University College Dublin (UCD), working with Prof. Abdollah Malekjafarian on structural health monitoring for wind turbine blades.

Before pursuing my PhD, I received my master’s degree (with distinction) from the School of Aeronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), Xi’an, China in 2023, supervised by Prof. Yongbo Li. I received the B.Eng. degree in Aircraft Control and Information Engineering from NPU in 2020.

• Jul 2026: Oral presentation at the 9th European Conference of the PHM Society (PHME 2026, Oslo, Norway).
• 2026: Papers published in Energy and AI and Reliability Engineering & System Safety.
• 2025: 1st place in the ASCE-EMI SHM for Wind Energy Challenge; Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad.
